In the group pic, from left to right: Sparky, Frumpy and Mr. Muppetface.
“This ragtag band of pirates is sent out to get treasure. The team is led by Frumpy, an older and very experienced pirate, who has seen his fair share of trouble and looks rather weathered because of it. He doesn’t look very strong or threatening, but he is clever and mean. He’s not afraid to get his hand (singular) dirty per se, but he likes to order other folks around. Mr. Muppetface is the type that will cut you if you make fun of his face. Needless to say, he gets into fights a lot. He also likes cooking, though. Sparky is mostly just there to be intimidating and to kick-ass. Ironically, he likes to avoid conflict if he can. He doesn’t talk too much and when he tries it comes out as garbled gibberrish.”

My original though process was this: “I’m thinking of an scruffy, older and experienced pirate with some missing limbs, I don’t want to make them very attractive. On the one hand, I really like to get the more realistic(ish) pirate feel. On the other hand, if I go space pirate I can go full alien! I also kind of want to say “screw it” and draw a non-anthropromophic, angry, old pirate cat (parrot/monkey). The compromise of this would be an angry, old, scruffy cat-parrot-monkey hybrid alien with missing limbs. I think I’m on to something.“
